All-new 2024 Audi Q5

  A disguised prototype version of the new   Audi Q5   has been spotted testing on mountain roads in the Alps, giving a clear indication of the model’s comprehensive redesign.  Set to be the third-generation version of  Audi ’s best-selling global model, the Q5 will also be one of the German car maker’s final ICE cars.  Pictured with a black and white camouflage livery obscuring much of its exterior design, the prototype features new taillights and a completely revised front end look suggest the Q5 will be brought more in line with its newer stablemates, including the electric E-tron models.  The totally overhauled front end resembles a clamshell-style bonnet, a shorter grille, sleek new headlights and new air-intake designs. At the rear, meanwhile, the Q5 looks to have been modelled on the  Audi Q4 E-tron,  although the brake lights in situ here look to be temporary items for the purposes of testing.  The success of the Q5 peaked in 2021, with global sales soaring by 5.3% to 293,069 r

Audi plug-in hybrids receive bigger battery for more electric range

Audi on Tuesday announced a bigger battery for plug-in hybrid versions of its A6, A7 and Q5. The trio receive a new 17.9-kilowatt-hour battery instead of their previous 14.1-kwh unit. The new battery is the same unit offered in plug-in hybrid versions of the Cayenne and Panamera from fellow Volkswagen Group brand Porsche. Timing for the United States hasn't been announced but we should see the new battery introduced here shortly as it's already available elsewhere. Audi doesn't offer the A6 with a plug-in hybrid option in our market but the plug-in hybrid versions of the A7 and Q5 with the 14.1-kwh battery launched for 2021 have an EPA-rated electric range of 24 and 19 miles, respectively. The 17.9-kwh battery should provide a boost to these figures. Audi also offers a plug-in hybrid A8 with the 14.1-kwh battery here, though the big sedan hasn't been announced with the 17.9-kwh battery just yet. Aston Martin's future gas-only cars will be limited

Aston Martin's future lineup will be electrified, but there will still be a space, albeit a small one, for cars powered purely by gasoline. In a report outlining its 2020 financial results published in March, Aston Martin said that by 2030 it expects just 5% of its sales to be gas-only cars, and that these will be limited to track-only models like the V-12-powered Vulcan launched in 2015. For the remaining 95% of sales, Aston Martin said its goal is to have this figure split 50% electric vehicles and 45% hybrids. Aston Martin's first EV will arrive in 2025, Chairman Lawrence Stroll revealed in a March interview. He said Aston Martin has already drawn up plans for an SUV and sports car with electric power, with the sports car possibly a successor to the DB11. The automaker's first plug-in hybrid will be a variant of the DBX SUV. It will arrive in 2023, CEO Tobias Moers said during an investor presentation held in February. 2020 Land Rover Range Rover Evoque

Dynamically designed and arrestingly attractive, the Range Rover Evoque has won plenty of praise since its 2012 debut, even though it may not be the best driving experience in small premium SUV segment. Land Rover will look to improve on the formula with a redesigned Evoque scheduled for a reveal in London on November 22. The world debut will take place at the 2018 Los Angeles auto show the following week. To build excitement, Land Rover has parked a handful of brightly colored wire form structures depicting the new Evoque in some of London's most popular spots. Some readers will recall the automaker did the same for the current Evoque Convertible back in 2015. We've spied prototypes on a number of occasions, with the testers revealing that only evolutionary styling is in store for the new Evoque.
